Jane Austen Page is an independent reference and companion site for readers, students, and Janeites. Inspired by David Perdue's Charles Dickens Page, we aim to be the place the internet was missing: comprehensive, accurate, readable, and beautiful enough for the subject.

This site is researched, written, and edited by Jason Guo. The standards behind it:

Every biographical claim is checked against primary material — Austen's surviving letters, the Austen-Leigh Memoir, and the standard scholarly biographies (Le Faye, Tomalin, Honan).
Every quote on this site carries a chapter or letter citation, and we do not publish the internet's many unverifiable "Austen" quotes.
Novel texts follow the Project Gutenberg editions of the first published texts.
When scholarship is genuinely divided — her final illness, the Rice Portrait, the "dead silence" of Mansfield Park — we present the debate rather than picking a side and hiding the rest.

Corrections are welcomed, acted on quickly, and credited —write to the editor.
